Hi, I'm Bill Packard, the owner operator of Down to Earth. I've worked in excavation, paving, road maintenace and site work off and on for 30 years.
I decided to venture on my own because I felt there was a need for small equipment operated by a person with extra respect for property, to do those jobs that are a little different than the norm. Sometimes it’s a drainage problem behind a house or between a garage and outbuilding that has minimal clearance. Since my excavator is only 4 feet wide, it can fit into most spots. Maybe a ditch is needed for a power line or gas line. Again, I only disturb a very small area to get the job done. Culvert replacement is another project that is usually too big for the homeowner, but doesn’t need big equipment.
The other area I specialize in is gravel roads and driveways. My tractor with Harley Power rake is a very capable machine in a small package. I can grind up an existing gravel road or drive to cut out the potholes or washboard. Once the gravel is loosened up, I can shape it and crown it so water runoff is controlled. If material is needed, I recommend crushed gravel as it is the best value for the money. Cheaper products don’t last nearly as long and will require much more money to maintain. Some people prefer a different look for their drive and I have other products such as crusher dust or reclaimed asphalt to get that desired appearance.
From recycling gravel drives to making a minimal impact on property, we take a green approach to everything we do, while respecting your property. I gladly work with homeowners on their projects. It’s a great way to save money, while being a part of the project from beginning to end. Why not contact us and see what we can do for you.
