Recent Gravel Road and Driveway Projects
As Fall approaches cleaning out the ditches along your gravel road or driveway can minimize water problems. Leaves and sticks in the ditches cause more washouts than anything else. An ounce of prevention is worth much more than a pound of cure.
We were really busy this season recycling gravel roads and driveways and I was more focused on work than photography, so we don't have many pictures. If you click on Harley Power Rake I do have a video that shows how the rake works and a road that was recently done. Gravel roads are not mysterious. Your gravel didn't disappear, it just relocated itself. We can make a big difference at an affordable price.
This gravel drive had eroded becasue water ran down the wheel tracks in the road rather than sheeting off the surface.

After reshaping the road and adding a load of surface gravel, the drive is crowned and water can sheet off the road into the ditches.

This is a small section of a gravel road that always got soft when it was wet. We removed about a foot of material, installed woven geotextile fabric, replaced the material and applied surface gravel.

The finished product is a section of road that will retain it's shape and stand up to water and traffic without going out of shape.

This photo shows how an inadequate ditch allowed the road to erode and the gravel from the road washed into the ditch and filled it up even more.
Now the ditch is clear, mulched to prevent erosion and the recent rain is settling in the runoff area.
